Uganda Trip: Days 14 & 15

It's been a great two weeks but Days 14 & 15 were the journey home. While my heart was left in Uganda, I was so ready to see my family again.

We first drove to the capital of UG, Kampala, and went shopping at an amazing market there. I could seriously get all of my Christmas shopping done there all in one place ;-)

Then we drove to Entebbe where the airport is located and ate at a fabulous restaurant close by...

Time for the 2 day flight home - quite a challenge for someone who can't sit still for half a minute. But not so bad when I have this to look at out my window...

Until next time, Uganda. Hope to see you again soon!!!

Uganda Trip: Day 13

We got to spend most of the day relaxing by the pool which was much needed after the past two weeks of always being on the go.

We met some really nice ladies at the pool from Rhode Island that volunteer for Bead for Life, a non-profit organization that helps employ women in Uganda. Bead for Life has an amazing 18 month training program and after a Ugandan woman graduates, she has the capabilities of running her own bead or shea butter business. People abroad can also help these women by having home parties to sell their goods. It's a great organization so check them out!

Late afternoon, we went on an African safari riding atop our van. Our tour guide looked at us "old" ladies like we were crazy wanting to get up there but it's the only way to ride & see everything well!

We were almost about to leave, and a little disappointed that we saw almost everything except for tigers. Then we looked up and what do you know...

And as an added bonus, as we were driving back to the hotel, a leopard crossed our path. Too dark to get a picture and he was too fast - still amazing though. Thank you, God, for your creativity and sharing Your world with us ;-)

Uganda Trip: Day 12

We left early the morning of Day 12 for Murchison Falls National Park for a two day safari in western Uganda. I think it was about a five hour drive there...

Finally made it to the entrance...

When you gotta go, you gotta go. "Some" of us just won't go in here but "some" will go next to here. Sorry to my friend, Autumn, who had to witness that.

The drive from the entrance to our hotel...

We made it to Paraa Lodge - our home for two days! Warm showers and good working toilets are so under-rated! ;-)

After we unpacked & freshened up a bit, we took a boat ride down the Nile River. This was my second time down the Nile but I don't think I could ever tire of the peaceful ride and seeing God's creation up close...

Our boat took us as far as it could go then we got out at one point and met our tour guide for a hike to the Falls. It was great exercise & the scenery was BeAuTiFuL!

Made it back just in time to catch the ferry back to the hotel...

And just in time for dinner. We were starved! They serve an amazing buffet with seafood, salads, desserts, etc.

We saw lots of these little guys running around...

And the adventure to get back into your room at night is always "fun". You have to run down a long, dark hallway that is outdoors, all the while dodging bats swooping at your head. Needless to say, you don't go out at night unless you have to! ;-)
